ST JOHN’S School and Community College in Marlborough emerged top school in the Kennet Schools’ Area Cross Country trials held at Marlborough College, writes KEVIN FAHEY.
The school provided three winners with Jacob Smith and Katie McQue, in particular, looking impressive in running away with the junior titles.
Henry Adamson led a clean sweep in the minor boys’ event. Joe McQue and Dylan Jimenez completed the dominance.
Dauntsey’s were not far behind, enjoying considerable success over the six races and will have 24 runners in the Kennet team for the Wiltshire Schools’ Championships in the new year.
The most impressive was Jacob Platt, who dominated the inter boys’ race with teammate Elliot Lassiter.
They finished well ahead of the field with Jacob Marsh of Wellington Academy finishing in third. Lavington School’s Hannah Thomas won the inter girls’ title followed by Alice Walton-Knight and Emily Gibson from Dauntsey’s.
“Teams from Dauntsey’s, Wellington Academy, Lavington, St. John’s, Devizes School and Pewsey Vale competed over a challenging course in typical cross-country conditions – cold, mud and wind,” said spokeswoman Emma Crozier.
“All ran in good spirit and there was a great deal of positive support.”
