DEVIZES RFC have reported a surge in spectator interest following their promotion to South West One East.
The Saddlebacks host Salisbury at their London Road base on Saturday (2.30pm) and club secretary Ross Paget said: “Promotion has meant we now attract around 200 supporters for every first XV home match and this number is rising.
“A large percentage of our squad are local lads who have come through our junior set-up and that adds to the appeal”.
Entry to all senior matches is free and first XV captain Tom Collins added: “This support has helped the lads tremendously and spurred us onto three home victories so far this campaign.’’
Devizes drew 25-25 at Reading last weekend.
