MARK Collier's unbeaten league start as Chippenham Town boss came to a shuddering halt tonight as the Bluebirds were soundly beaten 4-1 at Weymouth.

Collier had tasted victory in two of his three league games since taking over at the start of the month, as well as a come-from-behind 3-3 draw at Biggleswade Town, but Town came unstuck in the first of their two appointments on the south coast in four days.

The visitors hadn't played since last week's 3-1 home win over Truro City, but they made the perfect start to this contest as Alan Griffin headed them into the lead shortly before the quarter of an hour mark.

Joe McClennan then went close for the visitors, but Weymouth were pressing for the equaliser and, after Ben Joyce had a shot which went over the bar, they levelled just after the half hour as former Town player Scott Walker's cross was headed home by Stewart Yetton.

Weymouth had the lions' share of play moving into the second half, although Griffin was denied the chance to put the Bluebirds back in front as a defender got in front of him witha  goal beckoning.

The home side grabbed the lead just after the hour as Luke Burbidge broke and Mark Ford fired home.

Two goals in quick succession wrapped up the points for the Terras as Dave Allenn turned home from a Walker corner before Yetton fired home from the edge of the area.

Griffin hit the bar late on for the visitors, but the game was well beyond them by then.
