MARLBOROUGH opened up a four-point gap in the West Clubs League North Division by romping to an 11-2 triumph over Bristol University 2 – their fifth successive home league victory this season.
The home side were quickly into their stride and Rosie Curling executed a fine deflection for the opening goal.
Bristol responded an caused Marlborough further problems, forcing Vicky Moxham into several saves.
The home side turned the tables and Kate Batty wrong-footed the Bristol keeper to restore her side’s advantage.
Batty deftly lobbed home her second and Clare Griffiths netted the fourth from a short corner.
Batty seized a loose ball to complete her hat-trick seconds after half time and Curling added a second.
Bristol replied again, but a rampant Batty netted her fourth a deflected touch from Catherine Manley added another.
Marlborough won two short corners in quick succession, Griffiths scoring off the first, then adding another with a flick over the keeper.
A deflection from Becky Hewlett wrapped up the thumping triumph.
Chippenham climbed into the top five in Premier Division 2A with a fine 2-0 victory over second-placed City of Bath. Nicki Sparks and Courtenay Gadd were on target for the home side.
