FORWARD dominance and hard work in defence ensured Minety’s second string saw off their Warminster counterparts in Dorset & Wilts Three North.

Playing downhill in the first half, Minety seized an early try thanks to great work from the pack.

Driving deep into their opponents’ 22, they secured quick ball for scrum-half Dellam Murray, who nipped over for a try from five metres out.

Nick Jones’ conversion made it 7-0, but though Minety remained in the Warminster half no further scores were awarded.

The second half was a scrappy affair, with the visitors’ efforts to take advantage of the slope cancelled out by their hosts’ stalwart tackling.

In the end, it was Minety who broke the deadlock, fighting their way up the hill, led once again by their forwards.

A fine passage of play ended with a 22 metre rush from Jones, who not only touched down for the try but also kicked the conversion.
