DEVIZES continue to make waves in South West One East after securing their third straight win in Berkshire.

The Saddlebacks included 17 year old Josh Lewis, second row Will Paviour and second XV captain Matty Holloran, with centre Mark Carter transferring to the back row in place of the injured Jake Richardson.

Yet the visitors made a poor start as Newbury grabbed the lead with a well-taken try.

With the wind in their favour, Devizes upped the ante and after some sustained pressure from the pack, led by the industrious Tom Reed, second row James Gaiger powered over from 10 metres out, Andy Thompson converting.

Thompson then nudged his side into the lead before half time with a penalty.

Back came Newbury, with Paviour in the sin-bin, as they powered over to retake the lead.

But Saddlebacks skipper Tom Collins burrowed over from close range before Gaiger was denied a second try and then Reed was harshly adjudged to have received a forward pass.

With man of the match Collins orchestrating proceedings, a further two penalties from Thompson nudged Devizes closer to victory.

Newbury though, crossed the line for a third time to keep the nerves jangling up until the final whistle.
