A half marathon, which will raise money for Gazette & Herald charity Bag4Sport Foundation, was officially launched last week.

A new route has been planned for the second running of the Wadworth-sponsored Devizes Half Marathon, organised by Events Logic, on October 20, starting and finishing on The Green.

Wadworth chairman Charles Bartholomew said: “We are pleased to be involved again. It is a good event for the town as it brings new people to the area and gets lots of people involved with sport.”

To enter, see eventslogicuk. com/event/wadworth-devizes-half-marathon/60.

A date of December 8 has now been set for the Bag4Sport Santa fun run.

The charity hopes hundreds of people of all ages will dress in Santa hats or full costumes to run 5k around Devizes.

Money raised from all these events will help provide grants for grass root sports and the Gazette Stars of Tomorrow winners.

Readers will have a chance to vote for their favourites for this contest in coming weeks.

Judges, including Gazette & Herald sports editor Owen Houlihan, and Mayor Pete Smith meet tomorrow to draw up a shortlist of candidates from each of the Gazette & Herald edition areas.

The shortlist will then be published in the Gazette & Herald so readers have the final say on who should receive the grants.
