BOX duo Sue Dix and Alex Jacobs both made swift exits from the national championships in the two wood singles at Royal Leamington Spa.

Dix lost in the first round 15-12 to Rebecca Wigfield (Desborough Town, Northants) while Jacobs went out 15-10 to Karen Rushton (Harefield Hospital BC, Middx).

Jacobs was looking for better fortunes today when she teamed up in the national pairs championship with Sue Cooke.

In their first match they faced Nicola Coombe and Dympna Whybrow (Bushey) while Chippenham Town’s Jan Boden and Barbara Shepheard were due to meet Karen Burrows and Chris Morton (Parkway, Hunts).

Week one at Leamington finishes tomorrow and Saturday with the women’s inter-county Amy Rose Bowl (31 years & under) double fours competition.

Wiltshire have selected their team to compete against Huntingdonshire in their opening match.

Wiltshire - Rink 1: Rachel Jones (Purton), Thabina Hussain (Supermarine), Joanna Richman (Highworth) and Charlie Harding (Wootton Bassett). Rink 2: Georgina Newman (Trowbridge Westbourne), Kara Little (Chippenham Town), Lucy and Katy Smith (WB).

WILTSHIRE Ladies bounced back from defeat by Devon to defeat Dorset 118-104 in their final South West County League match at Salisbury.

They took the honours on four of the rinks to score 18 points out of 22. Wins were recorded by Joan Coleman (nine shots), Delia Godwin (two), Maureen Woolley (15) and Alex Jacobs (18 shots).
