LAURA Collett continues to recover following her fall in the British Eventing Horse Trials earlier this month - but will not be competing "for the foreseeable future".

Collett was discharged from hospital in Hampshire last week and Yogi Breisner, World Class Performance Manager and Chef d'Equipe to the British Eventing is delighted with her progress.

Breisner revealed the Membury Estate-based rider will be continuing her recovery at Oaksey House in Lambourn where many racehorse jockeys also recuperate and said: "Laura is now doing well and has left Southampton General Hospital, where she was looked after extremely well.

"She is doing her recuperation at Oaksey House and is very grateful for the support given to her by Lottery Funded World Class Programme medical staff and the British Olympic Association's Athlete Medical Scheme - without their support she would not be at Oaksey House.

"She could not be in a better place than Oaksey House, where many jockeys have recovered from injuries. Laura is very grateful for the expertise and care she is receiving there."

However, he added: "Laura is currently under ongoing assessment but will not be competing in the foreseeable future. She is in good spirits and will be working hard to regain full fitness.

"Laura's family and her support team are extremely impressed and grateful with how the accident was handled.

"The paramedics at Tweseldown did a fantastic job with Laura after her fall and made the correct decision in sending her to Southampton General Hospital."
