CORSHAM batsman Toby Davies hit a century as Wiltshire finished day one of their Minor Counties Championship Western Division clash with Devon in a decent position.

The visitors, having won the toss, chose to bat and despite being bowled out for 357 just one shy of the full 90 overs, had taken three wickets in the home side's reply by stumps on day one in Exmouth.

Davies' knock of 109 came from 190 balls and featured 13 fours and he shared a second-wicket partnership of 148 with captain Joe Breet after opener Jayden Levitt had been dismissed with the score on three.

Breet fell leg before to Trevor Anning seven runs short of his own century, but a fifth-wicket partnership of 112 between Henry Langford (60) and Steve Bullen (45) took the visitors score on again.

Pacemen Anning (3-70) and Josh Bess (3-61) were the pick of the home bowlers.

Wiltshire though made inroads into Devon's batting line-up before the close of play.

James Toms was caught by wicketkeeper Steve Bullen off Tahir Afridi and Potterne's Jake Roberts trapped Rob Holman leg before for four.

Afrifi then dismissed David Lye leg before as Devon finished the day on 27-3.
