PURTON asserted their dominance at the head of the Division One table with a stunning batting display against basement boys Spye Park.

Captain Elliot Hill led his side to 354-2 from their 45 overs, with Hill making an unbeaten 117 himself.

Tom Bowler blew the Spye attack away, hitting a superb 152 not out.

Spye, in contrast, were all out for just 69 after 20 overs, Bowler taking 5-27.

Malmesbury climbed into the top half as they edged home against Hinton Charterhouse.

Malmesbury made 254 all out, with James Gaunt scoring 75 and George Royle 48.

Joe Jenkins spearheaded the reply with 110, but despite 53 from Chris Antrobus, Hinton fell short by six runs.

Matthew Harrington (55) helped Bradford on Avon to a competitive 214-5 against Swindon Nalgo.

Ian Pinchen (35) and an aggressive 48 off 48 balls by Tony Laws also contributed, but the Nalgo reply started aggressively led by Hendy Alleyne (64) and skipper Prashant Joshi.

Rufus Lakin bowled well for 3-35, but ill-disciplined bowling allowed Nalgo 35 extras, the second best score on their card.

And Bradford were beaten when they missed a certain runout with Imran Dastagir stranded, as Nalgo got home by four wickets.

Wootton Bassett avenged their defeat to Swindon Civil Service from earlier in the season as they triumphed by six wickets.

Roger Willoughby took 3-17 and Harvey Cummins 4-17 as Service were all out for 140 in under 42 overs.

Jack Dymoke hit 52 and skipper Darren Beasant and unbeaten 30 as Bassett got home in 41 overs.

Urchfont maintained their pursuit of leaders Purton with a five-wicket win over Beanacre & Melksham.

Beanacre made 221-7, with Matt Hunt scoring 60 and Ben Brown 55, but Toby Dorgan’s 75 helped Urchfont home.

Division Two

WROUGHTON Wranglers were the latest team to fail to stop Box’s irresistible charge towards the title.

An 11th successive win looked likely for the home side when they bowled out the Wranglers for just 92.

Rob Styles (3-28), Jonny Pegler 2-33 and David Sanchez (4-14) did the damage, 14-year-old Jonny Bazeley also taking a superb one-handed catch.

But the reply started poorly as Mark McMeeking (2-34) and Mike Evans (4-23) left the hosts reeling at 39-6.

Dave Crawford proved the saviour as he hit an unbeaten 44 to see his side home by three wickets in the 26th over.

Unbeaten knocks of 72 and 69 from Cameron Wright and Will Eden helped Collingbourne to a nine-wicket win over Corsham 3rd, for whom Rob Shillaker scored 43 in 159-8.

Lacock got home by eight wickets against Warminster 3rd as Jamie Walker took 4-28 in Warminster’s 105 all out.

Steve Copland’s unbeaten 56 and 38 from Miles Copland wrapped up the win.

Division 3

WILCOT were soon in trouble against All Cannings, Hugo Saye and Kevin Ryalls restricting them to 10-2 off the first ten overs.

Catches from David Cooper and Steve Parker helped Saye get two more wickets in the 12th over leaving Wilcot at 26-4.

A partnership between Martin Fetherson-Godley and Hamish Fyfe took the home side to 98-6 before Saye struck again for a five-wicket haul.

Wilcot were all out for 127 and Richard Mansell and Andy Legg got the visitors off to a flying start reaching 96 without loss after 20 overs.

Legg was stumped on 53 with two more wickets falling cheaply before Mansell and David Cooper took Cannings to their total in the 27th over.

Division Four

BEANACRE & Melksham 2nd made it eight wins in a row with a hard-fought victory against Trowbridge A.

Batting first, Trowbridge started at a rapid rate as Paul Field and Rhys Evans put on 48 for the first wicket The visitors were struggling until veteran Tim Carpenter started to take wickets at regular intervals.

Only Field, who carried his bat for 83, put up any resistance as the innings closed on 186 all out, Carpenter finishing with 5-45 off 12 overs Beanacre reached 30 in the fifth over when the first wicket fell, but the match began to swing Trowbridge’s way as wickets tumbled.

The visitors were staring defeat in the eyes when their eighth wicket fell with the score on 97. But youngster Dan Carpenter (21) and Rich Hallett (44), returning after two years out with a knee injury, built a match-winning partnership of 92 as the visitors reached their target in the 43rd over

Wootton Bassett 2nd eased to a ten wicket triumph over their Malmesbury counterparts, who were bowled out for 137.

Scott Walduck took 4-5 in just 2.2 overs, James Smith Jnr with 3-34 and Paul Curtis 2-27. Bassett openers Josh Smith (65*) and Pete Ellis (67*) then knocked off the runs.

George Elliot (47) and Josh Hodder (45) contributed as Potterne 3rd’s 209-5 proved just enough to defeat Ramsbury, who ended on 202-9.

Division 6

IAN Hardy led leaders Cherhill to a seven-wicket win over Collingbourne 2nd as he hit 63 in the reply of 180-3, chasing Colling-bourne’s 175 all out.
Martin Tarr’s 53 was enough for Potterne 4th (203-4) as they lost out by four wickets against Goatacre 3rd, for whom Matthew Holmes scored an unbeaten 61.

Division 7

HEYTESBURY began their visit to Boomsbury strongly thanks to some assured batting from Rob Robson, who hit 79.

Unfortunately the other batsmen suffered at the hands of Chris Fardell, who finished with 5-25, leaving Boomsbury to chase 155.

Ollie Howe began the chase with a steady 30, before man of the match Fardell hit 47 to take Boomsbury to victory.

Lacock 2nd took over at the top courtesy of their win against Burbage & Easton Royal 3rd, who batted first and saw Don Lohrentz score 39 in their 132 all out.

Anthony Edwards took 4-2 and Lacock got off to a steady start in reply.

Quick wickets gave Burbage a sniff of victory at 68-5, but Matt Lever (28*) and skipper Tim Culling (32*) responded to give Lacock a five-wicket win.

Mark Dixon took 7-19 for Marshfield 3rd as they bowled out Devizes 3rd for 82. Earlier, Mark Salen had scored an unbeaten 50 in Marshfield’s 208-9.

Ged Roddy hit 90 in Winsley 3rd’s 237-6 against Box 2nd, James Lloyd adding 65. Box were all out for 124, despite Steve Hall’s 32.

Division 8

STEVE Richardson took 6-40, including a hat-trick as Chippenham 4th claimed a two-wicket win over Bathford 2nd.

Richardson’s haul helped dismiss Bathford for 145 and he then scored an unbeaten 72 as Chippenham won despite four wickets each for James Taylor (4-44) and Ian Waller (4-26).

There was a welcome victory for bottom-of-the-table Beehive 2nd as they romped to a nine-wicket success over Wanborough 2nd.

Andy Rendall’s 2-27 and 2-33 from Justin Andrews helped keep Wanborough to 195-9.

Nigel Reeves hit an unbeaten 105 and Michael Reeves added 56 as Beehive knocked off the runs.
