WOOTTON Bassett teams recorded a double in the two Wiltshire men’s triples and fours semi-finals at Chippenham Town on Sunday morning.

In the first semi-final the county triples holders James Nobbs, Neil Smith and Gary Morphet, who lost in the triples final at Worthing last year, beat a home club trio of Andy Bradfield (sub for Neil Connor), Dave Godwin and Paul Macdonald 24-16.

They will play Holt (Rob Jeffreys, Don Gray and Justin Davis), who won their semi-final earlier in the week, in the county final at Devizes in early September while both trios have qualified to represent Wiltshire in the national triples at Worthing in mid-August.

And Bassett were successful in Sunday morning’s one fours semi-final that was held at Chippenham Town.

The quartet of Richard Buckland, Dave Pugh, Harold Jones and Andy Crump were never behind against the Holt quartet of Rob Jeffreys, Keith Bailey, Kevin Oliver and Don Gray.

Crump’s four booked a place in the county fours final at Devizes in early September and a place at Worthing in the national fours championships.

They will be joined in the final and at Worthing by another foursome from Wootton Bassett. The fours skipped by Steve Snell and Neil Smith will play their delayed semi-final at Westlecot on June 30.
