FC CHIPPENHAM avenged their league defeats against Swindon Town by claiming the U16 Cup Final prize with a 2-1 victory at Melksham Town’s Conigre ground.

Kaitlin Brooks and Danielle Griffin got the goals for Chippenham with Brinlieah Gallagher pulling a goal back for Swindon.

Swindon Town’s Hannah Attwell was judged player of the match.

U11 Cup Final

WESTBURY put up a great fight against favourites Swindon Spitfires before slipping to defeat.

A tight first half ended with Spitfires going ahead through a goal from Morgan-ly Culley.

The second half was dominated by Swindon, who got a deserved second through Rebecca Chitolie to secure the trophy.

Spitfires’ Shannon King was named player of the match.

U12 Cup Final

LEAGUE winners Swindon Spitfires made it a Swindon double over Westbury as they got the better of battling opponents. Westbury scored first with a blistering shot from a free kick taken by Katie Evans.

Lois Beer responded for Spitfires with a goal half way through the first half.

The teams were level at the break but in the second half, Westbury fought well, forcing some critical blocks and interceptions from the Spitfires defence.

An end-to-end game was finally settled as Spitfires’ captain Georgia Brown netted the winner.

The Amazons’ Evans was judged player of the match. U14 Cup Final MELKSHAM secured the league and cup double for the second year running with a hard-fought victory over rivals Trowbridge Town.

Maddy Brown scored the only goal of the game in the first half.

Trowbridge’s stand-in goalkeeper Louise Collier had an excellent game, making some critical stops to deny the Melksham attack.

Melksham themselves had to soak up a lot of pressure, particularly in the second half, but held out for victory.

Trowbridge’s Rebecca Fry was judged player of the match.

Open Age Cup Final

LEAGUE champions FC Chippenham started brightly and took the lead after five minutes through Kim Rimmer from a corner.

Melksham began to dominate play and got the equaliser through Chloe Timbrell.

The second half was an even affair with chances for both sides.

FC Chippenham got the breakthrough with seven minutes to go, scoring from a corner this time through Lucy Mitchell.

Melksham went close in the dying minutes as a shot from Kat Luther was well saved by Abi Footner.

Player of the match was Melksham’s Ellie Simms.

  • THERE was also league action in the U12 Division between Melksham Utd and Bath City, who were playing for runners-up spot in the division.

Bath took a 2-0 lead but Tilly Dunnery got Melksham level by half time.

Melksham took the lead for the first time in the opening minute of the second half with a goal from Cicely Stanley from a Sarah Ward cross.

Bath levelled, but Melksham were to claim all three points as Stanley got her second, latching onto a fine through ball from Phoebe Collyer to secure a 4-3 victory.

In the U16 Division, Derry Hill finished their season with a convincing 6-0 win over Highworth Juniors.

A hat-trick from Gemma Sheppard, two goals from Asmara Gibbs and a first-ever league strike from defender Gabby Jones secured the points.

In the other game, Lavington and Wootton Bassett fought out a 3-3 draw.
