ROBIN D’Souza was pleased to see his Corsham team remain steadfast and notch up their first league win of the season.

Tom Abbott’s century put Corsham on the front foot at Taunton St Andrews and despite dropped catches, D’Souza’s men held their nerve for a 29-run victory.

“It was a bit of a hard one but we got there in the end,” said D’Souza.

“I dropped myself down in to the middle order to give us a bit more stability there and the openers did really well.

“There were a few catches that we dropped. We could have bowled them out for 180 if we’d taken those half-chances. We’ve got an inexperienced side this year and they did well to get the win.”

After winning the toss, opener Abbott led the way with an unbeaten 103.

He was well supported by Toby Davies (44) and Sam Collier took to the crease late on to hit an unbeaten 60 off 44 balls as the visitors posted 279-5, despite Jacob Lintott claiming a hat-trick.

James Regan hit 56 in reply, but Ben Gardner took 4-51 as Taunton were out for 250.

  • STEVE Bullen scored his second century of the season in Corsham’s 129-run win over Bedminster in the North Somerset League on Sunday.

His 125 came off 105 balls with 10 fours and seven sixes in 258-7, Tom Foley taking 3-28 in the Bedminster reply (129 all out).
