FOUR second-half tries helped Pewsey see off a competitive Minety in Dorset & Wilts One North on Saturday.

With the advantage of a slope in the first half, Minety gained field position from which to attack and, at the end of teh first quarter, Minety centre Dave Church was in for a try converted by scrum half Tom Fitzcharles.

Fitzcharles then crossed the line four minutes later running in from the base of a scrum and adding the conversion.

Pewsey hit back with five minutes of the half remaining when scrum half Tom Haynes sniped in from a quick penalty.

But with 30 seconds to the interval whistle, fly-half Dale Langdown was in for am unconverted try to give Minety a 19-5 lead.

Pewsey used the gradient to their advantage in the second half as the home side were put under almost incessant pressure.

The first points of the half came with a straight forward drive down the middle and quick ball to centre Joe Tavaga who powered over, James Haynes adding the extras.

Vale outside centre Ty Lewis ran in the next two tries, Haynes converting the second effort.

With 15 minutes to go Minety, in a rare foray into Pewsey territory, were awarded a penalty from which Fitzcharles kicked them to 24-22 behind.

But Pewsey finally ended their resistance as slick passing between the forwards saw flanker Chris Spence finishoff the move, Haynes converting.
