THREE suspects who were arrested following a raid on a cannabis farm in Royal Wootton Bassett have been released on bail.
Officers descended on a barn complex on the outskirts of the town on Tuesday afternoon, approaching in a convoy of eight vehicles.
Following a search of the property, they discovered a cannabis farm containing approximately 200 plants and made three arrests.
It was the second such raid in under a week.
A spokesperson from Wiltshire Police said: “Officers attended an address in Brinkworth Road, Royal Wootton Bassett, on Tuesday and located a cannabis factory.
“Three people, two men and a woman, were arrested in connection with the cultivation of cannabis.
“They were taken to custody at Gablecross Police Station and have now been released on bail whilst the investigation into the offences continues.”
The Avon & Somerset Police drug factory dismantling team were called out to assist Wiltshire officers at the scene as the cannabis plants and associated pieces of equipment were removed.
The Royal Wootton Bassett and Cricklade Neighbourhood Policing Team took to Facebook to reassure residents who might have noticed the unusually high number of police vehicles moving through the town centre.
They said that officers had initially attended the address with unnamed partner agencies to assist with carrying out enquiries.
Tuesday’s raid came just days after police uncovered another cannabis factory which had been set up in an old pub on Beatrice Street in Swindon.
When that property, formerly The Meerkat pub, was searched last Saturday, 150 cannabis plants were found.
An Albanian man, 31-year-old Ervin Doksani, appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with producing cannabis and was jailed for 26 weeks.
