WILTSHIRE’S best and worst ranked GP surgeries have been named in a new patient satisfaction survey.

The GP Patient Survey is an England-wide survey that provides data on patients’ experiences of their GP practices on a range of topics.

The data is based on the January 2016 GPPS publication, which combines two waves of fieldwork, from January to March 2015 and July to September 2015.

In Wiltshire, 13,622 questionnaires were distributed and 6,986 were returned.

The survey rated Tinkers Lane Surgery, in Royal Wootton Bassett, bottom of the table with a rating of just 61 per cent.

The highest scoring surgery was the Hindon Surgery, in Salisbury, with a full 100 per cent.

Dr Patrick Craig-McFeely, a doctor at Hindon Surgery, said its success was due to a strong rapport between staff and patients.

He said: “We don’t change our staff very often so patients always see someone they know and the staff are all very good at what they do.

“We want everyone who has an interaction with us to have a good experience, whether it’s calling a receptionist or seeing a doctor. Whatever the interaction, we listen to our patients and value their happiness.

“We were very pleased to see these results, everyone has had a spring in their step ever since. “It’s especially nice that the results have come from the patients, as that’s who we care about most.”

A spokesman for Tinkers Lane Surgery in Royal Wootton Bassett declined to comment yesterday but said they would be issuing a statement to include some other surgeries in Wiltshire in due course.
