ADMINISTRATORS have reassured customers that a popular Royal Wootton Bassett hotel will remain operational, despite the parent company going into administration.

Arron Kendall and Simon Thomas, of restructuring and insolvency firm Moorfields Corporate Recovery, were appointed joint administrators for Oyster Hotels Ltd, which operates the Marsh Farm Hotel, on February 9.

They are continuing to trade the hotel with the assistance of Convivial Group, which specialises in the hospitality and leisure industries.

A spokesman has confirmed that no weddings have been cancelled and the hotel will continue to operate as normal.

Arron Kendall, joint administrator, said: “We are currently continuing to trade the hotel whilst we explore the options, but are hopeful to find a buyer.

“The hotel sector is continuing to show strong signs of growth and Marsh Farm Hotel has a good range of facilities and benefits from a desirable location.

“We believe it provides a good opportunity for potential purchasers.”

The news has come as a shock to many in the town, with several expressing concern over the future of the hotel.

Hazel Newson, chairman of the Royal Wootton Bassett Business Association, said: “Marsh Farm Hotel has been a popular local venue for many years and we are extremely sorry to hear this news.

“We understand that they are still able to trade at present, so we are hopeful that business will be able to continue until a new buyer can be found.”

Despite repeated attempts to get in touch, hotel management did respond to requests for a comment.

Marsh Farm is a 50-room hotel that also features corporate conference facilities, a beauty salon and on-site restaurant.

The Glasshouse Restaurant was refurbished last summer and has continued to grow in popularity.

As well as being a popular wedding venue, it is also regularly used for various different functions and conventions.
