An enjoyable social evening at the ballroom of the Angel Hotel last week celebrated this year’s Royal Wootton Bassett in Bloom.

Entries, which were judged in July, ranged from containers to hanging baskets, courtyards and larger gardens. Chris Wannell thanked the judges and entrants and also Pat Fisher, who provided buffet refreshments. The Angel management was thanked for hosting the event.

Trophies were presented by Mayor Sue Hughes and the certificates for first, second and third places were presented by James Gray MP, who spoke warmly of the excellent community spirit for which the town is noted.

The rosebowl for champion garden was awarded to Lynn Macindoe, of Dunnington Road.
