GREENFINGERED gardener Annabel Dallas has been named as the new County Organiser for the National Garden Scheme in Wiltshire.

Ms Dallas, of The Old Mill in Ramsbury, trained as a botanist and has opened up her garden every year for the enjoyment of the community since 2002.

The charity helps to organise open garden days by keen gardeners in which money is raised for a range of national nursing charities. This year there are 54 open garden events in Wiltshire.

Ms Dallas said: “I am very much looking forward to getting to know all the gardens and garden owners listed and many others too."

She replaces Sean and Kena Magee, who were joint county organisers since 2007.

George Plumptre chief executive of the charity said: “Thank you to Sean and Kena for their brilliant work for the National Garden Scheme. They have ensured that Wiltshire has grown in both gardens and funds raised in the last ten years, in the process retaining some of the county’s outstanding gardens and recruiting a number of new gems.”
