WILTSHIRE College has announced its link with the renowned Wilkes Academy of Performing Arts, where students will study a BTEC Level 3 in Performing Arts alongside their training.

The Swindon-based academy which is endorsed by celebrities such as Ant & Dec, Robbie Williams and Arlene Phillips boasts 250 of the best young performers in dance, acting and singing.

Jonny Wilkes, one of Wilkes Academy of Performance Art’s principals said: “Our mission is to provide the best professional training available, a school is only as good as its teachers.

“At the Wilkes Academy, the teaching staff consists of the best working professionals possible. Professionals that are still very much at the forefront of their working careers.”

Wiltshire College and The Wilkes Academy are celebrating signing contracts to seal the partnership.

Amanda Burnside, Wiltshire College Principal and Chief Executive, added: “This is an important development for the College and will enable us to introduce new courses, adding to our existing performing arts, music and film offer; particularly at higher level.

“This partnership will provide more opportunities for young people in the region to gain performing arts qualifications and to progress on to fantastic careers in the arts.”

Students at the Wilkes Academy come from all over the world, and more than 80 per cent of graduates are now actively working in the industry.

Each student has the opportunity to gain valuable experience working with current directors, choreographers, musical directors, casting directors, producers, singers and actors.
