Wiltshire Council is joining the international Older People’s Day celebrations by championing achievements and contributions older people make to society.
The council is inviting senior citizens from across Wiltshire to a free fun day to enjoy traditional sing-a-long songs, a tea dance and a series of events allowing people to drop in or stay all day.
This includes lunch and afternoon tea and the chance to speak to representatives from charities and organisations.
Wiltshire Council leader Jane Scott will welcome everyone to The Atrium at County Hall on October 4 before Melksham Pearlies lead the singing of old favourite songs with added props and costumes.
LinkAge will be inviting people to try Tai-Chi and line dancing before the Pearlies host a London quiz and word search over lunch.
The afternoon’s activities begin with new age curling and Boccia before the Sing and Smile Club conducts more singing and the activities are stepped up with a tea dance with cake and drinks.
The Wiltshire Council Older People’s Day event begins at 10.15am and runs until 3.30pm.
