PLANNING permission has been rejected for the addition of a balcony and large window to the barn alongside the Honeystreet Barge Inn.
An application was made in October to turn the barn into a home, re-route the byway to the canal and resurface the car park.
The application to change the barn has been rejected on the grounds that it would be “to the detriment of its historic character and setting.”
A spokesman for the Barge Inn Community Action group, which oppose the planned changes, said: "We are happy that plans to divert the 700 year old byway and put a fence around the Barge Inn have been refused, but are extremely concerned that the conversion of the barn to a large family house has gone ahead without authorisation."
