FAMILIES gathered for an afternoon of sunshine and fun at the Royal Oak in Pewsey to raise money for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance on Saturday.

From a coconut shy to face painting, cakes, stalls and a BBQ, revellers were kept entertained with a whole host of activities inside and outside the village pub in North Street.

Live music was provided from musical duo Cat 'n' Mouse and rock band Outfall.

There was also a raffle with prizes ranging from a combine harvester ride, a tour of Stonehenge and wine among other things. Some of the unwanted prizes are also going to be auctioned off at a later date, but the raffle raised £1,200 and the activities outside raised £540 for the charity.

Pub landlady Debbie Hussey said: “A couple of our regulars Frank Day and Richard Stawt did a raffle last year and approached the pub and it went from there and we decided to hold the charity fun afternoon.

“We had a great day and the atmosphere was very sort of relaxed and we are glad the weather held out too.”

Aviation enthusiast Sean Devine from Upavon was also there with his model helicopter, which is identical to Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s new Bell 429 helicopter, complete in the yellow and Wiltshire green livery with a pilot and paramedic figures inside.

Youngsters had fun marvelling at the model which is almost 6ft long and weighs 8kg.

Mrs Hussey added: “I just want to thank everyone for coming out and supporting the worthwhile cause.”
