GIANT insects were among the delights art lovers could feast their eyes on as they enjoyed a stroll around Pewsey on Sunday for the village’s Art Walk.

Pubs, shops and the Heritage Centre displayed artwork throughout the day as visitors made their way around the village guided by maps.

One of the highlights was a bronze head Tribute to Man by the acclaimed sculptor Dame Elisabeth Frink, who died in 1993, which has been loaned by Oare businessman Robert Hiscox and will be displayed at the Heritage Centre.

Around 300 visitors attended the event and they were also able to enjoy live music as they made their way around the exhibitions.

The Art Walk was organised by local artists and Pewsey residents Sylvia Clayden and has been supported by the North Wessex Downs Sustainable Development fund.

She said: “The essence of Pewsey Vale Arts Walk which was to value everyone`s creativity in a multiple of forms.

“The day itself was very well attended with numbers up from last year and possibly as many as 400 wandering around shops and open venues.

“Pewsey Heritage Centre was busting at the seams at times and there many very positive comments for the event and particular joy for the giant insect models produced by eight of the local schools in and around the Pewsey Vale.”
