LAYING the Ghost is a witty, fast paced comedy set in a care home for retired actors and has been put on by the Marlborough Players to entertain audiences in the town hall this week.

Yew Tree House is home to some of the finest former actors of their time. But acting isn’t Freda Deacon’s only talent. She can talk to ghosts, who haunt her every move as they try to reconnect with the world.

When her best friend Margot Buchanan gets an unwelcome visit from her ex-husband - acting sensation Sir Leo - on her 70th birthday, the care home is thrown into a hilarious chaos of slamming doors and haughty looks as Margot’s past is dragged kicking and screaming into the present.

The show is full of laugh out loud moments and physical humour, with all the hectic slapstick comedy that writer Simon Williams could chuck in.

The high energy performance treads the line between silly and funny and creates a loveable bunch of characters on stage.

Laying the Ghost is running tonight and tomorrow night in Marlborough Town Hall. Tickets are available from the Whitehorse bookshop and on the door.
