EXCEPTIONAL B&B hosts at Manor Farm in Collingbourne Kingston have won a national award celebrating their tireless efforts for their guests.

Jackie and James Macbeth have run the guest house for 15 years and were awarded the Outstanding Host Award 2017 at a ceremony in London.

The farm house has been in Mrs Macbeth’s family for six generations and the pair moved in after wanting to start a business together.

They were about to sign a deal to buy a B&B in Scotland when Mrs Macbeth’s parents, who still live at the farm, suggested launching their business there instead.

They accepted their first guest just two days after moving in themselves, and Mr Macbeth says has never known it without the busy flow of guests.

He said: “We try and make a connection with every guest and overcome the guest and host barrier. It is much nicer to feel like you are sharing you home with friends than strangers.

“Most of the time we are on our own with our guests but it was good to have a knees up at the ceremony and an honour to be up for an award.

“This is an award that is really personal to us and what we do. It confirms that our guests think we are doing a good job.”

When the pair aren’t providing the personal touches for their guests, they like to escape to the Isle of Wight where they spend their time sailing and walking.

The Eviivo Awards celebrated Britain’s best guest houses.
