BARGAIN hunters have said goodbye to the organiser of Marlborough car boot sale for Wiltshire Air Ambulance at the last event of the season.

Audrey Peck began the bargain hunting event five years ago and now, having raised £4857.83 for the charity since April 2017 alone, has decided to hand over to a new fundraising chair.

Former Marlborough town councillor Mrs Peck, of Pewsey Road, had organised car boots on the Common of up to 100 cars for the air ambulance charity since 2012.

She said: “Marlborough Supporters of Wiltshire Air Ambulance have had a fifth good year and will be giving the charity £4857.83 which includes £557.83 from voluntary donations in the collecting buckets on the entrance, from the seven Car Boot Sales on Marlborough Common.”

New chair Daniel Claridge, is set to take up the challenge of following Mrs Peck’s legacy and said: “Audrey has done all the hard work in setting it up. So many people talk about doing something like this but never get around to doing it. She has worked so hard and I am looking forward to taking over.

“Audrey will be greatly missed but we are sure she will be there to check up on us from time to time!”
