THOUSANDS of pounds worth of damage was inflicted on Ogbourne St Andrew Parish Church by thieves who ransacked the ancient place.
Sometime between April 30 and May 2, thieves smashed a hole of 18 inches in diameter through one of the ancient leaded windows at the back of the church building.
A few pounds from a Childrens' Society Box was stolen but the act has left the Parochial Church Council with a repair bill of £2,000.
If anyone has any information call the police on 101 or contact the Churchwarden Richard Gray on 01672 841100 or Reverend Roger Powell on 01793 740369.
