EXCITEMENT is building at Marlborough’s St John’s School as pupils prepare to perform the 1980’s musical classic FAME.

One of the highlights of the school calendar is taking place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7pm at St John’s Theatre on the Hill, and tickets are selling out fast.

After four months of preparation, the pupils from Years 8-13 are putting the final touches on the play, which director of performance Max More said will feature plenty of razzmatazz.

“The spirit amongst the camp is just fantastic. We are very lucky to have a brilliant ensemble cast and everyone cannot wait to get started,” said Mr More, who has been directing the school plays for more than 10 years.

“Hopefully there will be a packed house to see it all. Some of the elder pupils have been in a production every year since they joined the school so there may be some tears mixed in with the celebrations.

“This is one of the biggest events of the school year and I am sure everyone will do themselves proud. This journey began back in September and after filling all the roles in October we have been preparing for it non-stop.

“There will be a few nerves for sure but you can bet they will be ready when the time comes.”

The plot follows a group of students across the acting, dancing and music faculties from 1980-1984 as they learn to master their craft and grow up alongside each other, rising to the various challenges that face them.

Tickets are £7.50, or £5.50 for concessions, and a family ticket is £23.50. To book visit https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/stjohnstheatreonthehill.
