MARLBOROUGH'S St Mary's Primary School is £492 better off after they received the cheque as part of Waitrose's Community Matters scheme last week.

The school received the cheque from the supermarket chain after chalking up the most amount of tokens as part of their scheme that supports local charities and organisations.

The donation will now go towards supplying PE equipment to be used in the new school, which is opening in September 2017.

Catriona Taylor, Co-chair of friends of St Mary’s CEVC Primary School Marlborough said: “We would like to thank everyone who shopped in Waitrose and put their token in our box, it means a lot to receive such a generous donation.”

The programme, which was launched in 2008, donates £1000 every month shared between local charities and organisations by getting customers involved.

After every shop, customers are given a green token to put in a box of the good cause they want to support. The cause with the most tokens in their box at the end of the month receive the biggest donation.
