FOLLOWING the discovery of a human skull near Avebury, Wiltshire Police has confirmed that the skull is in fact a number of years old.
Police officers were spotted at the field in West Kennet on September 2 (Friday) where they had cordoned off the area. A source told the Gazette that a human skull had been found by the officers.
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “Police are conducting examination of an item which was discovered in a field near Avebury on the evening of Friday, September 2, 2016.
"The item has been sent away for examination, but early indications show the item is believed to be a male skull and is likely to date back a number of decades.”
