PUPILS at Collingbourne Primary School were delighted to meet players from Bath Rugby Club and learn about how healthy eating helps them succeed in sport.

Tom Foggarty and Jack Howden visited the school to talk to the pupils about the importance of staying active and keeping healthy.

Head teacher Jeff Mason said: “It went very well. They did a talk with the Year 4 to 6 pupils about the benefits of eating fruit and the benefits on the body of taking part in sports. Then later on in the afternoon the pupils took part in a tag rugby coaching session, which they all seemed to enjoy.”

Pupils at Collingbourne said: “I thought it was good fun. I never liked rugby but I do now.

“It was fun learning about the fruits that the rugby players eat. It was a thrilling experience.”

The rugby club is running the Jetta coaching programme where members visit local schools.

Mr Mason added: “It was great to have these men visit, we feel we have done well to have them come in and interact with the pupils. Some of the children didn’t know what to make of it to begin with, both of the rugby players had to duck down to get through the classroom door.”
