THERE was lots of giggling youngsters in Ramsbury on Saturday as they took part in a willow workshop and craft day organised by the Action for the River Kennet.

It took place at the Ramsbury Triangle, a piece of land jointly owned by ARK and the Ramsbury Parish Council, and it came alive with the sound of children enjoying the beautiful area with great access to the River Kennet.

Twenty two local children explored the river and river dipped, learning about the habitats and the creatures that live in a chalk stream environment. Then they retreated to the river's edge to make willow sculptures and other wildlife inspired art to take home.

ARK Project officer Anna Forbes said: "The workshop was in partnership with Thames Water, who funded the day, helping us spread the message of how important our rivers are and how we can help look after them. Our next free daytime event is a Bioblitz at Stonebridge Wild River Reserve Saturday 5th September starting at 10am.”
