COUPLE Janet and Brian Rayment are inviting members of the public to look around their Lockeridge garden and wildflower meadow in aid of Prospect Hospice.

They are hoping families and garden enthusiasts come to admire their flowers of all colours and varieties that they have been planting for the last 19 years and raise money at the same time for the charity.

Their three acre meadow, full of wildflowers from birdsfoot trefoil, lady’s bedstraw and a single orchid, will also provide space for people to have picnics with views of the Marlborough Downs and the village for people to enjoy, which they do not usually open to members of the public.

Youngsters will also be able to run around the field and admire the many butterflies the meadow attracts.

There will be tea and homemade cake on offer too which the community has rallied around to donate with all the money raised going to Prospect Hospice.

Mr Rayment, 79, said: “We go visiting gardens nearly every month of the year as a hobby, so we thought we would like to share it with others and at the same time do something good for Prospect Hospice.

“We did it about three years ago and made about £700, so hopefully we’ll do better this year. These hospice organisations are so invaluable and I love the thought of supporting them.”

Their gardens at Castle Cottage, Lockeridge just outside of Marlborough, will be open on Sunday, July 19 from 2-5pm. Entry is by a minimum donation of £4 per person and there will be ample parking available.
