An abandoned dog has been named Lucky thanks to friends in Marlborough who rallied round to rescue her.

The eight-month-old Jack Russell-Beagle cross was seen in the High Street being thrown from a moving van at the beginning of December.

She spent days wandering the streets and could not be coaxed to safety.

Then a group of about 30 friends got together and finally managed to catch her.

Maggie Nash, 48, of Isbury Road, was among the group.

She said: “I was so relieved when we caught her because she’d been seen running about on the roads so it was only a matter of time before she was run over.”

Lucky has been found a safe home with a family in Marlborough and firms in the town, including Marlborough Building Supplies, Marlborough Pets, Comfy Critters in Woodborough and TH White Country Store, have chipped in to help in the rehoming process. TH White donated supplies to secure Lucky’s new garden.
