CHARITY worker Ellen Fitton is encouraging people to get involved with the Ebola Crisis Appeal.
The 22-year-old from Ramsbury is working with the charity Street Child, which operates in Sierra Leone and Liberia.
Recently the charity launched the Ebola Crisis Appeal to provide humanitarian aid for those affected by the outbreak in West Africa and are focusing their efforts on supporting children orphaned by the virus.
Miss Fitton, a former pupil at St Mary’s in Calne, said: “I was ready to go out to Sierra Leone but then the outbreak of Ebola meant that I couldn’t so I am now working in our head office in London in the events team.
“We are working on a number of fundraising events so that our people on the ground can provide care and we need all the support we can get.”
The charity has committed itself to providing long term support to 1,000 children orphaned by Ebola but at least 4,000 children have lost their parents and this number is growing.
