RECORD shop owner Roger Mortimer is expecting a big turn out for an appearance by the vocalist of platinum selling rock band Ash.

Tim Wheeler will be at Sound Knowledge in Marlborough at 7pm on Monday for the launch of his first solo album Lost Domain.

He has won an Ivor Novello award for his songwriting, which includes songs such as Shining Light and Girl From Mars.

On the new album he plays all of the instruments apart from guest appearances from the likes of Andy Burrows and members of Alberta Cross and Neon Indian.

On Monday he will play a half hour set at the next door Azuza cafe and will then be signing albums.

Mr Mortimer said: “This is an unmissable chance to catch a real star in an intimate setting for free. All we ask is that if people are going to buy a copy of the album they do so from us on the night - the day of the album's release - with, of course, the added bonus of getting it signed by the artist.

"Tim is donating a portion of the proceeds from the album to the Alzheimer's Society.”
