Mystery surrounds the fate of Wiltshire’s famous wallaby Wanda after unconfirmed reports that she had been killed emerged on Facebook.

Wanda went missing three months ago after escaping from a paddock at Woodlands Farm, near Mildenhall, but her owners said that she had returned home of her own accord early last month.

Those that have followed her travels on the Facebook page The Wiltshire Wallaby Watch, which was set up by gardener Phil Brady who took several photographs of Wanda, became suspicious that this was not the case when a wallaby was spotted in a bean field on the Ramsbury Estate.

An update has been posted on the Facebook page saying that a wallaby had been found dead on the estate and this has been followed by suggestions that this wallaby was male.

There have also been reports of sightings on the Bowood Estate, near Calne, of an escaped wallaby which could not have been Wanda.
