An 18-year-old who took a motorbike for a spin in Chippenham crashed it into a barrier at Sheldon School at the weekend, causing £600 worth of damage.
He took the bike from a layby at 8.30pm on Saturday, where its 16-year-old rider had stopped to talk to some people he knew.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “A man known to the 16-year-old decided to hop on his bike and drive off without a helmet.
"He didn’t get far before he was in collision with the school barrier.
“The whole matter has been resolved through local resolution and the youth who took the bike will be paying for repairs to the bike and to the school barrier.”
An ambulance was called and the suspect was treated at the scene for suspected concussion and bruising.
