THREE new trustees have been appointed to help with the decisions of the Malmesbury League of Friends, which was set up to help local people with specific medical needs.

Alex Morgan, director of Abbey Communications, Keith Maslin, who runs his own estate agency business and Wendy Harris, who has lived and worked in the town for more than 30 years joined the current committee, who meet six times a year to discuss funding requests from Malmesbury Primary Care Centre, Athelstan House Care Centre and individuals.

"We are delighted to welcome these three new trustees, whose varied experience will be invaluable," chairman Robin Clarke said. "All three are active in the town."

The trustees, who all have previous charity experience, will also consider requests from health providers for items of medical equipment not covered under the NHS, local people who are facing financially difficult situations and local charities, such as Brighter Futures, who are raising money for a new radiotherapy unit at Great Western Hospital.
