MALMESBURY firm Dyson has refused to comment on a national newspaper story that it is involved in government plans to develop an electric car.

According to a leaked document, Dyson is developing an electric car at its headquarters in Tetbury Hill.

The National Infrastructure Delivery Plan, published last week and seen originally by The Guardian, stated: “The government is funding Dyson to develop a new battery electric vehicle at their headquarters in Malmesbury. This will secure £174m of investment in the area, creating over 500 jobs, mostly in engineering.”

However, the documents have since been edited to remove any references to Dyson and its links to the automotive industry and instead states that the government will grant up to £16m to Dyson “to support research and development for battery technology”.

The engineering company recently rocked the beauty industry with the world’s first bladeless hairdryer, retailing at £300.

The firm has also recently committed to a £1.5bn investment in technology. which will partly go towards four new portfolios of technology and a launch of 100 new products around the world in the next four years.
