The general manager of Malmesbury-based charity HEALS has been nominated for a Global Star Award for her work in the community.

Alison Cross-Jones has been nominated for the Lift Effects award which celebrates 100 women making a difference in the community both globally and locally.

Mrs Cross-Jones said: “It is a brilliant feeling. I have no idea who I was nominated by but they have done so based on their experience of what HEALS are doing for the community.

“It feels nice to be nominated but you have to remember that what I am doing at HEALS is down to a whole team of people.

“I really appreciate what they do and I feel extremely lucky at HEALS. They are more like a family than a team.”

Lift Effects are hosting the awards and conference where more than 300 women from across the globe come together to celebrate their work.

Mrs Cross-Jones will join the other Global Star Award nominees at the awards ceremony in Croydon on June 18.
