A MALMESBURY man has been told to expect a jail term after admitting his part in drug dealing.

Kyle Brace, 20, had been due to stand trial accused of two counts each of possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply.

But, before a jury could be sworn in at Swindon Crown Court, Brace changed his plea to admit what he had done.

Brace, of Athelston Place, admitted he had the heroin and crack for supply on Tuesday, January 14, and Thursday, February 6, in Chippenham.

Tristan Harwood, defending, asked for the case to be adjourned for a pre-sentence report, though he accepted he was facing jail.

He said: "I have told him it is only custody. He is a young man of 20 and he has an awful lot to say for himself."

Judge Tim Mousley QC agreed and adjourned the case to Friday, January 2, and remanded him in custody until then.

He told Brace: "The probation service should be advised by your legal team that the only issue they need to address is length: custody is inevitable."

Prosecutors dropped charges against a second man, Mark Eastwood, 22, who gave the court an address in Bristol, after he denied the January allegation at an earlier hearing.
