Youngsters from the Malmesbury area showed they had that ‘ooh la la’ factor when it comes to studying French.
Jacob Coutts, eight, from Lea, ten year-old Luke Batten of Malmesbury and Louis Scarpino-Cocking, nine, of Brinkworth were among Westonbirt Prep pupils who showed off their language skills in a special performance for parents. Sporting berets, striped shirts and a strip of onions, the Key Stage 2 French children sang, recited poetry and performed sketches in French.
Headteacher Neil Shaw said: “We know that the best way to learn a language is from an early age and to have as much fun as possible while learning. We go above and beyond the new national curriculum in our studies of modern languages.”
All children at the school, near Tetbury, have a sound knowledge of French and enjoy a taster year of Spanish by the age of 11.
