A road blocked by a school bus crash this morning has been cleared.

The bus, which was carrying 20 children, was on its way to Cirencester when it appeared to veer off the road and plunge into a ditch at the Five Lane Crossroads on the A429.

Two females, at least one understood to be a schoolgirl, were taken to hospital after sustaining what are believed to be minor injuries.

The accident happened at 8.26am and caused hold-ups in and around Malmesbury.

The bus, which is owned by Optare of Brinkworth, was eventually recovered from the ditch at around 11.30am and the road was cleared at 12.20pm.

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said that no other vehicle was involved in the incident and that the injuries “do not appear to have been serious.”
