DEVIZES escaped the worst of the bad weather yesterday but Wiltshire Museum decided not to open. It tweeted: "We are closed due to inclement weather today. Wednesday 27 December."
High winds combined with snow brought down a number of trees across the county and Wiltshire Council advised people to take care. Its teams were out throughout the night.
A spokesman said: "We have worked through out the night gritting our primary and secondary network however please take care when travelling.
"If you are venturing out onto the roads please be aware as well as the Snow Hazard High Winds have brought a number of trees down so please drive to the conditions.
Energy firm SSE said that thousands of homes in Swindon, Marlborough and Tidworth areas lost electricity supply during Tuesday night and early Wednesday but most had power quickly restored.
