THE Wiltshire Air Ambulance Airbase Appeal is £250 closer to its £1.25m target after the Devizes Sweet Sensation Scooter Club donated the sum to the charity.

The funds were raised from the club's fun day at the Bell on the Green last summer and a pre-season do at the end of January.

And last Tuesday members of the club were given a tour of the charity's headquarters in Devizes and then gleefully handed over the cheque too.

"It was lovely to hand over the cheque and know that we are helping towards their Airbase Appeal goal," said club member Vicki Uttridge.

"They are a brilliant charity and have saved the lives of countless people. I know it is only a little amount but if people do as we did that little amount can grow and grow.

"It was great to go round their facility, talk to the paramedics and get a feel of their day-to-day work.

"The two events that we did went down really well and if we can help this wonderful charity again we will leap at the opportunity."

Cas Loudon, donor relationship co-ordinator, said: "We would like to thank the Devizes Sweet Sensation Scooter Club for choosing to raise funds for our Airbase Appeal.

"It was great to meet them when they visited our Operations Centre in Devizes and their scooters are amazing. Later this month we will start building the new airbase, so it really is an exciting time for the charity."
