PEOPLE living in houses built by David Wilson Homes are threatening to stage a protest outside its latest development near Devizes as they say they are still suffering problems years after their homes were completed.

A rally for disgruntled home owners is to be staged tomorrow (Friday) at The Crescent at 10am to find out the strength of feeling before escalating action.

Organiser David Bellis said: "There is now a growing consensus that we ought to get properly organised and form a protest group. People are talking about picketing the show homes on new developments."

People living in Hillier Road and The Crescent are angry that they have been left without street lighting after David Wilson has not carried out repairs and the road is yet to be adopted by Wiltshire Council.

Mr Bellis contacted the Gazette after it highlighted similar issues at White Horse Way. Mr Bellis said: "Some street lighting exists but one by one the lights have gone out and now they are all out."

David Wilson Homes has just started work on a large new development at Lay Wood between Bishops Cannings and Devizes.

A spokesman for the developer said this week: "We are aware of some broken street lights in Hillier Road and The Crescent and have instructed our contractors to undertake work to resolve this.

"We anticipate the first phase of work to be complete around the end of January, with the second phase following afterwards. As always, we are liaising closely with the council about these issues and would encourage residents who have any further concerns to contact our customer care team."

Since the Gazette became involved in the lack of lighting at White Horse Way work has started to tackle the problem.
