THE MARLBOROUGH branch of Vodafone has just donated £1,000 to the Devizes charity Wiltshire Sight.

As part of the Vodafone Community Connection Award, staff at the Marlborough branch of the phone shop,in Marlborough High Street, chose Wiltshire Sight to benefit from the donation. The donation of £1,000 will go on to help the charity continue its work with people suffering from sight loss in the county.

Claire Neal, fundraising manager at Wiltshire Sight, said: “Wiltshire Sight are extremely grateful for this generous donation from Vodafone Marlborough, it will fund our Zoom Club that supports children and families living with sight loss to take part in group events such as reptile handling and farm visits. This service provides emotional support through information from our sight advisers and social inclusion by enabling visually impaired people to talk to others in similar situations.”

The Vodafone Community Connection Awards, which started in 2014, has helped up to 90 local causes in the communities across the country. The charities, which are selected by Vodafone staff, range from day centres for the elderly to helping people with disabilities take part in sports.

Dave Marshall, Vodafone assistant store manager in Marlborough, said: “We are thrilled to be able to support such an amazing charity. The work that they do with people suffering from sight loss, as well as helping to support their families is truly phenomenal.”
